QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER WHEN DEVELOPING YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

The year is quickly coming to an end, and as you’re working through your 2023 Social Media Strategy, there are many things to consider and many questions you need to ask yourself about your business. As a small business, the holiday season can become hectic very quickly, but taking the time to plan for the new year will pay off with growth in the new year. Consider these questions this holiday season before finishing your social media marketing strategy!

1. Do I have a clear goal for my social media?

Before diving into your strategy, you need to establish a clear objective for your social media. Having a clear goal will help you plan ahead, help with consistency, and allow you to publish content that helps you achieve your goals. Using the SMART goals strategy is one of the best ways to set your social media objectives. SMART stands for goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.

2. Who is my target audience, and how will I reach them?

When developing your social media strategy one of the major things you need to consider is who your audience is. Sometimes we forget who we are trying to communicate with and don’t consider the type of content they would be interested in. Knowing exactly who you are trying to reach will not only help you communicate more effectively, but will allow your account to grow and will help you reach your ideal audience.

TIP: Develop a customer profile, a persona. Write down your ideal customer’s needs,

wants, issues, ideals, beliefs, values, and interests and when creating content and

communicating with your audience, imagine you are communicating with the persona

you have developed.

3. How will I reach my goals?

Your entire strategy should be a well established plan of how you are going to reach your goals. Depending on your current objectives, you may need to create higher quality content, develop a social media content calendar to ensure consistency, or perhaps you need to change the type of content you are sharing. What your tactics are will entirely depend on your own objectives and goals.
